Purpose
The Data Administrator role is primarily to manage the corporate rules and methodologies as they pertain to the data management organization.
Job Description
The Data Administrator will oversee the data management area, focusing on things such as information security, training, backup and recovery, long-term information planning. The administrator is responsible for the standards guiding the data management tasks (data modeling tools, database standards, naming conventions, etc).
Duties
- Create and maintain policy documents related to data management tasks.
- Establish data security programs and policies.
- Create and maintain training plans for data management roles.
- Establish long range data capacity plans.
Purpose
A Data Architect is more concerned with the overall data movement and structure of the enterprise. They establish standards for interoperability between systems and databases, get involved with setting database connectivity standards, and work closely with systems architects to ensure that all systems interact with data in a consistent manner.

A Data Analyst is directly involved with project work, gathering data requirements and definitions, and mapping data elements (source to target data transformations). They also create and maintain detailed data models of data structures, typically at the logical level, although they do create a first-cut physical model to hand off to the DBA.
