Employed
(5/20/2003)

Great news, everyone! A wonderful company found me, and now I have a great job working for John Deere Credit, located in Johnston, Iowa. Happiness!!
Thank you to all of you who consoled me and presented opportunities. You are all good friends.

Guestbook Problems
(3/28/2003)

Well, I had to make the guestbook read/only. Someone (or many someones) have automated software that adds junk to the guestbook faster than I can remove it. So, no more guestbook.

Resume
(3/22/2003)

I hate to use the web site this way, but I need to do something. If you are a recruiter, or just know of a job opening:
  • My resume in Word format
  • My resume in HTML format
  • My Project History
  • Job Hunting
    (3/21/2003)

Well, I have bad news. I lost my job at Tyson Foods earlier this year, and as yet have not found replacement income. That means DataModel.Org is on borrowed time. If I cannot find a job soon, I will have to start cutting back on luxuries, such as this web site.
Please, if you know of someone looking for a top-notch data modeler, DA or DBA, contact me immediately. We are willing to move, if needed, but would prefer the Midwest.

    New Daughter
    (3/28/2002)

OK, this isn't exactly data model related, but it does give one darned good reason I have been a bit slow on the web site and email lists. My wife gave birth Monday (3/25/2002) to a tiny little girl, Emily Rose Nicewarner. Check out the link: Mercy Babies Online

    New Mailing List
    (9/8/2001)

To split the mailing list traffic a bit, we will now have a mailing list dedicated to job-related issues. Click on the "Join Mailing List" link below to find out more.

    PowerDesigner DEF/XDB Library
    (10/17/2000)

There are a lot of opportunities with the PowerDesigner definition files to customize the support for individual DBMS, or to even create support for a new DBMS. Now you can put your favorite definition files right here. For now, if you want to add a file to the list, just email me about it and FTP your file directly to ftp://ftp.datamodel.org/incoming. I´ll post the file on the web page ASAP.

    New Books
    (8/24/2000)

Added a couple of Inmon books to the library, specifically "Building the Data Warehouse" by W. H. Inmon and "The Data Model Resource Book" by Len Silverston, W. H. Inmon and Kent Graziano. Click on "Data Modeling Section" above and then on "Where the Books Are" or just click here.

    SETI@home
    (6/21/2000)

Just for fun (and to keep my computer busy while I"m at work) I started doing work for the SETI project. Furthermore, I started a group DataModel.Org. If you are interested, please join your computer to the network and join the DataModel.Org team.

    PayPal Supported
    (6/18/2000)

To better support international members, we have added PayPal support. Click on PAYPAL to try it out. Make sure you tell them you got it from "Psyclo@DataModel.Org". Remember that PayPal is a totally free service and very easy to use.

    Editor's Choice Award
    (5/10/1999)

EditorsChoiceAward.gif (4623 bytes)Great going everyone! We won the Editor's Choice Award from DataWarehouse.Com.  Thanks for your continued support and feedback.   Believe me, your faith is appreciated.

    Member Database
    (2/22/1999)

As stated in the PowerDynamo Update below, the entire DataModel.Org web site is being redesigned.  If you want to see the current design, check out the Model Section and please be free with your feedback.

    PowerDynamo Update
    (2/21/1999)

We have found a host for the new version of DataModel.Org (the 100% database driven idea).  The idea will be to make the entire site run under PowerDynamo, so the membership database had to be changed slightly.  With that change, some basic limitations of the original design are gone; specifically it won't just be databases and design tools.  The new site will have Data Warehouse, Object Modeling, OLAP and Development tools.  If you have suggestions, please send a message to the webmaster ASAP.  Thanks.

    mSQL Help Needed!
    (6/24/1998)

I am looking at using mSQL as the database behind DataModel.Org.   Does anyone have experience with this database platform?  I could really use some help.

    Library Coming Soon
    (6/17/1998)

I'm setting up a library of recommended reading on Data Modeling topics.   For now, here is a link to Amazon.com     In Association with Amazon.com

    Dictionary Added
    (6/5/1998)

A few of you requested a dictionary of data modeling terms.  I happen to have a glossary from a project I worked on a while back, so have included it as a starting point.  Please visit the Data Model Dictionary page and check it out.  If something is missing or wrong, let me know!

    On-line Database Status
    (6/1/1998)

Well, I'm at an impasse with Miva, the HTML database I intend to use as the foundation for most of the dynamic content on this site.  There are instabilities in the language (which is fairly immature) that cause certain functions to fail unexpectedly, intermittently and completely out of my control.  I'm working with HTMLScript support to resolve these issues.

I still need feedback from you on the database structure itself.  This is your database too!   Check out the CDM and PDM reports and let me know what you think.
