July 2006 – Current. Manager of Marketing Automation in the Marketing Department at John Deere Credit in Johnston, Iowa.  I am responsible for helping automate Marketing processes by leveraging IT and other resources to create innovative solutions.  In this role I am also a business liaison for CRM and other packaged solutions.

May 2003 – July 2006. Data Analyst in the IT Department at John Deere Credit in Johnston, Iowa.  I work with a team of DAs to manage conceptual, logical and physical data models, and an enterprise metadata repository.  I also train analysts and developers in design tools and data modeling techniques.

June 1998 – January 2003. Database Design Manager in the IT Department at IBP, Inc. in Dakota City, Nebraska. Manage all logical database, data dictionary, data flow and data warehouse designs enterprise-wide as well as developing standard data-related procedures. I also train analysts and developers in proper database usage and design and manage a staff of Database Analysts.

August 1996 - June 1998. Database Analyst in the IT Department at IBP, Inc. in Dakota City, Nebraska. Responsible for all logical database, data dictionary, data flow and data warehouse designs enterprise-wide as well as developing standard data-related procedures. I also train analysts and developers in proper database usage and design.

December 1994 - August 1996. Software Engineer in the MIS Department at Gateway 2000 in North Sioux City, South Dakota. Responsible for designing corporate-level databases and integrating all database designs together enterprise-wide. Primary contact for DataWarehousing, DSS and EIS technology as well as for complex or very large database design and structure. Also function as DBA in creation and maintenance of test and production OLTP and OLAP databases. Create and maintain various scripts, processes and utilities to manage databases between various platforms. Create and maintain ISO 9000 documentation.

January 1994 - November 1994. Database Analyst for the Marketing Department at Gateway 2000. Worked with various languages and tools to plan, design, develop and maintain Marketing-oriented database systems. Coordinated with various departmental agencies to trouble-shoot current and proposed system designs

October 1993 - December 1993. Programmer/Analyst consultant for The Salvation Army offices in Omaha, Nebraska. Worked with FoxPro and dBASE to maintain and enhance the software used to track contributions for their various Christmas programs.

June 1990 - June 1993. Programmer/Analyst for Woodmen Accident and Life Insurance Company in Lincoln, Nebraska. Designed, developed, tested, documented and maintained PC systems for home office and field use. Evaluated software packages and utilities for purchase.

April 1986 - January 1990. Enlisted in the US Air Force as a Computer Programmer. Developed user interfaces in Europe and communications software in Nebraska.

March 2002 – Current.  Participated on the founding committee and first board for the DAMA-Iowa chapter as VP of Internet Operations, managing the chapter's Internet presence.

February 1998. Attended two TDWI courses on Data Warehousing.

February 1995. Attended DCI Data Warehouse course.

January 1994 - July 1996. Attended various Sybase courses for System 10/11.

March 1991 - Nov 1991. Attended ASM Certified Systems Professional training.

August 1984 - March 1986. Attended Louisiana Tech University majoring in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science.

June 1999 Joined the Data Administration Management Association (DAMA).

April 1997 - June 1998. Founder and president of the local Sioux City PowerDesigner Users Group; the 1st local PowerDesigner users group of its type.

March 1998 - Present. Founder and president of DataModel.Org, an internet-based organization dedicated to helping data modelers and designers worldwide.

January 1998 - Present. Member of TeamSybase, a group of volunteers who assist Sybase technical support staff.

I have published many white papers, technical papers and articles over the years concerning data modeling, design tools and database technology in general.

I have also attended a variety of other educational classes in topics such as crisis management, public speaking, leadership, negotiation and foreign languages, and have participated in many professional management seminars and classes throughout my career. This includes Toastmasters and the Zenger Miller Front-line management series of classes. I am valued by many software vendors for my beta testing abilities and my over-all design experience.
